TESTIMONIALS

As a literacy coach, Rachael meets me exactly where I am personally, professionally, and in relation to my students on a week to week basis. In a classroom where our roles are constantly evolving based on the needs of our students, Rachael's calmness, passion, and positivity transforms what can be a stress-inducing desire to improve into an empowering, enduring urge to grow. She prioritizes seeing educators first as people, before teachers, which makes a tremendously positively difference in the important work of facilitating learning for children. She has a gift of balancing individual coaching for a variety of experience levels and mindsets, with delivering meaningful PDs to this diverse group. Rachael designs professional development that simultaneously propels the larger vision of a school and gives teachers tools to practice in their classroom that very same day. Rachael is exactly who every teacher needs regardless of where he or she in their career; she affirms the strengths teachers bring to the table and also stretches teachers to improve their practice in a manageable way. She is a welcomed, magnetic presence in a pre-scheduled coaching meeting, an observation, a large group PD, or simply a check-in conversation at the end of a long day. Rachael brings a much needed contagious new energy to teachers that flows right to those who need it most, the students in front of us.
Margaret, Gr. 5 Teacher

Working with Rachael Helfrick was always like working with a friend, a very driven and intelligent friend. She is passionate, motivated, and extremely knowledgeable in pedagogy, best practices, and cultural relativism. She always tackles problems head on and worked with teachers to bring the best educational techniques to the classroom. Her experiences in the classroom herself as a teacher, as well as a coach and consultant allow her to truly understand life as a teacher. Her suggestions not only pushed you as an educator, but were practical and achievable for teachers who already have their plates full. She works to enhance teachers strengths and improve their challenges. I cannot wait to work with Rachael again!
Jamie, Gr. 4 Teacher

I had the pleasure of working with Rachael this past school year and my time with Rachael was truly well spent. Rachael is an amazing educator who can provide assistance and/or share advice for any and every subject or issue one may be having in the classroom. Rachael is dedicated to the teacher she is working with and will spend as much time as needed in order to answer every question and find a solution to a problem. During my time with Rachael, I was able to learn new reading strategies for my English Language Learners and acquired new tools for my reading groups that were very effective in my instruction. I have truly enjoyed the time I’ve spent with Rachael and I look forward to working with her again this next school year. Thank you Rachael for all of your support.
Jeannette, 1&2 Grade ELD Teacher

Rachael is not only incredibly gifted in working with teachers, she is also an excellent consultant for coaches. In my first year working as a coach for teachers, Rachael supported me each step of the way. Rachael was eager answer any questions I had and prompt to provide research-based resources. We met regularly to determine how we could better support teachers and address needs within the school. Rachael’s expertise in culturally-responsive literacy practices provided a pathway for our school to enhance our practices. Additionally, Rachael designed innovative, rigorous model lessons that I observed and replicated in other teachers' classrooms. Each lesson was filled with rich discussions that promoted critical thinking, rich vocabulary and student engagement. Rachael is a gifted coach and cares deeply for the schools she works with. She is a vital resource for both teachers and coaches as they strive to meet their professional goals.
